The Centre for Social Innovation of Trinity Business School is delighted to invite you to the next event of the virtual Trinity Business Ethics Speaker Series.
The guest speaker for the upcoming event on Feb 18, 5 pm Dublin time is Dr. Nancy Bocken. Nancy is Professor at the Maastricht Sustainability Institute (MSI), Maastricht University, Fellow at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) as well as Visiting Professor at TU Delft, Netherlands, Lund University, Sweden, and LUT University, Finland. She is one of the leading international scholars on sustainable business models, on which she has published widely, and on which she regularly advises practitioners and policy makers. She has recently received funding for her new project on the circular economy by the European Research Council (ERC), one of the most prestigious research funding schemes worldwide.
Nancy will talk about the topic "Sustainable business models and the circular economy: initial findings from project Circular X". The circular economy has become a prominent core concept to drive sustainability transitions in business. Experimentation with circular business models is needed to understand which propositions work in practice, and what the impacts on the environment would be, and to kickstart transformations within business. Her talk first frames the types of innovations in a circular economy, followed by the concept of experimentation and focus on circular business models. Her talk also discusses different types of practices and processes, as well as opportunities and challenges, based on initial findings from the ERC funded project Circular X (www.circularx.eu).
Dr. Quentin Crowley, Associate Professor in Isotopes and the Environment at Trinity as well as Director of the Trinity Centre for the Environment will join the event as interdisciplinary discussant. The event will be accompanied by an exclusive piano music performance by Josef Barnickel.

The series is delivered online and will usually be presented at 5 pm Dublin time on Thursdays throughout the academic year, exploring important contemporary issues in the field of business ethics. Leading international scholars and practitioners will present their insights on a wide range of topics, including corporate sustainability, responsible business, corporate corruption, ethics in a digital age, corporate agency as well as business and human rights.
