Paper Development Masterclass for Early Career Researchers/Doctoral Students

Centre for Professional Service Firms, Cass Business School, London

    Thursday, 25th June, 2020

This one-day masterclass brings together early career researchers and doctoral students with leading scholars of professionals, professional organizations, and the professions, to discuss their research and develop publications.

The theme of the masterclass and selection of panellists is deliberately wide-ranging to encourage the participation of scholars from a broad range of interests and perspectives. Participants will present full papers to masterclass panellists and receive detailed, developmental feedback with a view to developing their papers for publication in leading journals.  Panellists will also offer more general professional development advice about researching and publishing in this field.  The day will conclude with a dinner for participants and panellists.

Participants in the masterclass will qualify to join the Professions' Summit the following day, also organised by the Centre for Professional Service Firms at Cass Business School.  This one-day conference will bring together leaders of professional organizations and senior scholars of the professions to debate the "Forces of integration and disintegration in contemporary professional service firms" (details to follow).

Panellists for the Masterclass will include:

Professor Paul Adler (University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business)

Professor Laura Empson (Cass Business School, City, University of London)
Professor James Faulconbridge (Lancaster University Management School)

Professor Daniel Muzio (University of York, York Management School)

Professor Crawford Spence (King's Business School, King's College, London)

These scholars will bring insights from their extensive experience of editing and publishing in journals such as: Academy of Management Journal; Academy of Management Review, Accounting, Organizations and Society; Administrative Science Quarterly; Human Relations; Journal of Management Studies; Organization Studies; and the Journal of Professions and Organizations.

The Masterclass is co-sponsored by Cass Business School's Centre for Professional Service Firms and the Society for the Advancement of Management StudiesBursaries are available for qualifying participants.
