    Associate Professor Jaye Ellis (Faculty of Law & School of Environment, McGill University) and Professor Steve Maguire (University of Sydney Business School & Department of Chemistry, McGill University) are currently seeking a talented Postdoctoral Fellow to join an exciting research team investigating the substitution of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) of concern, from business, organizational and policy perspectives. The project is multidisciplinary and involves close collaboration with McGill researchers from the fields of toxicology, reproductive health, and epidemiology who are investigating the exposure and effects of exposure on human health to three families of chemicals – bisphenols, phthalates, and flame retardants. Collectively, the research aims to produce both health and social science knowledge relevant to understanding 'regrettable' and 'informed' substitution of EDCs.

    The successful candidate will carry out qualitative case study research aimed at illuminating the processes through which endocrine-disrupting chemicals of concern are substituted with replacement chemicals in commercial uses, with a dual emphasis on organization- and inter-organizational field-level dynamics. Ideally, candidates will have a strong interest (and perhaps some experience) in working across disciplinary boundaries and with diverse stakeholders to whom the project is already connected, including business, NGOs, regulators and scientists.

    Qualified candidates should be self-driven and highly motivated individuals with an established track record of success. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline within the last two years and demonstrated potential to publish in highly-ranked journals. They should also have experience in qualitative case study research, including data collection via interviews and the building of a database of relevant documents via systematic searches; data analysis using content analysis, discourse analysis, and/or other interpretive methods; and the preparation of manuscripts in cooperation with supervisors. In addition, they should have fluency in written and spoken English, the ability to work cooperatively, and strong organizational skills. Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority.
