As management educators, how do we integrate into the classroom what is happening in the world? How do we make our classrooms safe places for learning, yet challenge students to reflect on their values and beliefs? With the theme of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, we hope to engage participants in dialogues and best practices for effectively teaching and integrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion into our courses and effective teaching.

The Management and Organizational Behavior Teaching Society (MOBTS) invites proposals for the 2022 conference at Cal Poly Pomona. We will continue our tradition of interactive and experiential sessions and encourage you to submit your proposals that share best practices in management education, encourage discussion and dialogue of relevant issues in management education, and/or facilitate effective teaching and learning. These can be in the form of interactive exercises or cases on a specific topic, round table discussion sessions that encourage dialogue about an issue in management education, or presentations of best practices in management education.

We are not asking that all proposals explicitly articulate a connection to the conference theme of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; we simply want participants to focus on engaging in interactive dialogue that promotes effective practices in management education. However, we do encourage participants to consider submitting proposals that do purposefully address the theme which we hope will result in a track of themed sessions at the conference. For example, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion submissions may include sessions that do the following:

    • Engage students in current organizational issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Incorporate current civil rights movements, such as Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ+ rights, or gender equity, into the classroom
    • Integrate diversity and inclusion into all courses
    • De-colonize syllabi and course content
    • Demonstrate how to manage difficult conversations related to diversity and inclusion

Sessions should be interactive and experiential and may be 30, 60, or 90 minutes long. All submissions are double blind reviewed.

MOBTS has long been a home to educators across the management disciplines and beyond, including but not limited to: organizational behavior, human resource management, I/O psych, conflict management, negotiation, strategic management, international management, healthcare management, accounting, economics, marketing, and beyond!

Cal Poly Pomona (California State Polytechnic University) is located in sunny Southern California. Enjoy this unique, expansive campus that includes beautiful views, gardens, and Arabian horses.

All submissions are double-anonymously reviewed. Accepted submissions will have the opportunity to be included in our Conference Proceedings with ISBN.
