    Hi folks,

I was wondering if any of you have suggestions for engaging, readable, practitioner-friendly articles around the topic of why organizations exist.

I really like Fisman and Sullivan's accessible description of transaction costs in their book The Org; I was looking for other similarly accessible introductions to macro perspectives on the theory of the firm/why firms form, etc.

    Suggestions gratefully received!

    Best,
    Lukas

Hi Lukas, In 2013 we had an AOM paper "Why do firms do what they do?"  Not submitted to a journal yet, thanks for reminding us, maybe we should send it somewhere. Check it out at  https://www.researchgate.net/publication/276897169_Why_Firms_Do_What_They_Do
