2025 Professional Development Workshops (PDWs) Call for Proposals

OMT PDW Chair: Silviya Svejenova, Copenhagen Business School, ssve.ioa@cbs.dk

The Organization and Management Theory (OMT) Division welcomes submissions of proposals for Professional Development Workshops (PDWs) to take place on July 25-27 (Friday to Sunday) at the 2025 Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark.

PDWs contribute to OMT’s mission by enhancing participants’ skills for doing theoretically significant and methodologically rigorous research, as well as for sharing impactful insights in management and organizing. They expand the capacity of and connections among the organizational and management community of researchers, educators, and practitioners.

Focus: PDW sessions could involve explorations of new or understudied research questions, novel theoretical perspectives and empirical approaches across analytical levels, as well as important yet underexplored organizational, managerial and societal phenomena and issues.

Format: PDW sessions are expected to be interactive. They could include diverse experiences, e.g., tutorials, round table discussions, breakouts, design and other workshops, improv work, etc.

Formalities: PDW proposals should follow the AOM guidelines and need to be uploaded to the AOM submission website by January 7, 17:00 ET (UTC-5/GMT-5).

The proposals will be selected based on their potential to offer development experiences that are:

    -        innovative: involve new and engaging ways to professionally develop current and potential OMT members.

    -        inclusive: connect current and potential OMT members across multiple diversities (e.g., career stages, nationalities, roles, etc.).

    -        impactful: provide important learning opportunities for participants, e.g., advancing new skills for research, theorizing, teaching, service, and engagement (please list the envisioned takeaways).

    -        inspired: have some form of creative connection to the local context (in addition, there will be an opportunity for a limited number of PDW sessions to take place at unique off-site locations in Copenhagen, connecting more deeply with the city and expanding our reach to new insights; please indicate in your proposal if you would like your PDW to be considered for an off-site location).

We look very much forward to receiving and considering your PDW proposals!
