After three successful years in existence, the Impact Scholar Community is moving forward from discussing whether we should have more impact (impact 1.0) and sharing tools for impact (2.0), to now seeking to actively mentor and support impactful research through to publications in our top journals (3.0). We are launching The Impact Scholar Mentorship Program starting August 2023!

Our intent for the program is to give 15-20 early career researchers (PhD students, Postdoctoral Fellows, Assistant Professors) from around the world, studying a novel set of social and environmental challenges, access to the best minds in academia – with the intent of rapidly moving more impactful and diverse research forward to successful top-tier publications. Accordingly, we partnered with leading senior scholars in the field to join us as mentors. All mentors are committed to inspire the cohort and to help move all projects forward. See the list of mentors and discussion topics below:

The program starts in August this year and will run for one year. It is designed to provide a platform for mentees to learn from accomplished scholars over the course of monthly meetings (alternating between tutorial and informal check-in sessions). The program will be conducted virtually and every member is expected to show up prepared to every meeting. While timing will vary depending on mentors' schedules, we will aim for a 10am EST slot to include as many time zones as feasible.

The launch of the program will take place at AOM, during an ONE-ISC social event on August 6, 2023 from 5.00-8.00pm. The senior scholar mentors have been invited, and we hope that ISC cohort members can join as well.

If you are interested in joining the Impact Scholar Community Cohort, please send your application documents to Sylvia Grewatsch (sgrewatsch@brocku.ca) and Wren Montgomery (wmontgomery@ivey.ca) by June 30th, 2023. Application documents should include: an updated CV, motivation letter highlighting your vision for impactful research work (1 page), a description of an impactful project you would like to develop with the cohort program (2 pages, early-stage projects are welcome). Everyone is invited to apply. Priority will be given to candidates who have defended their dissertation within the last five years or are in the last year of their PhD program.
