    MIGRATION AND ORGANIZATIONS CONFERENCE

Hosted by Columbia Business School, Columbia University
Sponsored by the Columbia TAmer Center for Social Enteprise and the Wharton ESG Initiative

    May 24-25, 2023

Call For Papers (Submit by March 6, 2023)

Now in its sixth iteration, this gathering seeks to advance rigorous research and strengthen the community of scholars at the intersection of migration and organizations. We invite papers linking migration to topics such as:

    • Organizational performance
    • Employee mobility
    • Management of individuals and teams
    • Diversity and inclusion in organizations
    • Firm capabilities
    • Entrepreneurship
    • Corporate strategy
    • Organizational innovation
    • Global strategy
    • Firm location choice
    • Work practices
    • Teams

Any other topic at the intersection of migration and organizations is appropriate. However, this conference is NOT for research focused exclusively on policy or other topics in which the role of the organization or firm is not apparent. Scholars from all fields, disciplines, and career stages (PhD students, Post-Docs, and Faculty) are encouraged to submit.

Please click here to upload your paper submission by March 6, 2023. Accepted presenters will be notified by late March 2023 and should be available to present in person. If you would like to attend the conference without submitting a paper, you may also indicate your interest via the same link as above. We will prioritize slots for presenters but may have space for non-presenters.  Travel funding is available for PhD student applicants who make a request by emailing immigration@wharton.upenn.edu.

For PhD students:  There will be a half-day consortium focused on career development for PhD students on May 24, 2023.  We anticipate holding small group mentoring meetings with faculty, early paper development workshops, and discussions with editors from top management and organizations journals about developing and publishing research on migration and related topics.

If you are a PhD student interested in migration-related topics, please apply for the consortium by clicking here. You will be asked to submit your CV and a short summary of your research interests with a focus on why attending the Migration and Organizations conference would be valuable for your development.  If you also submitted a paper for the conference, you are still eligible to take part in the PhD consortium.

For any questions, please contact any or all of the organizers: Prithwiraj Choudhury (pchoudhury@hbs.edu), Exequiel Hernandez (exequiel@wharton.upenn.edu),  Elena Kulchina (ekulchi@ncsu.edu), and Dan Wang (dan.wang@columbia.edu)
