One week to apply for the EGOS PDW 07 on «Curating open Academic Fora» where we want to discuss new forms of organizing conferences to ensure better geographic representation.

    ❓What's the problem❓
As sandra owusu-gyamfi highlights in her Nature article, scholars from low- and middle-income countries face numerous barriers when attempting to attend academic conferences (https://lnkd.in/dARdBzPP). These include time-consuming visa processes, high registration fees, and expensive travel costs. These institutional arrangements have led to a situation where prominent management and organization studies (MOS) conferences are mainly attended by European and North American scholars. It's crucial that we address this issue as today's academic encounters hardly represent the diversity of MOS scholars across the globe.

    ❓Why should I care❓
On the one hand, it is unfair and does not do justice to the promising conference themes we raise yearly, such as in 2021 when we asked for #OrganizingForAnInclusiveSociety. On the other hand, it is detrimental to knowledge generation per se. How can we establish impactful theories to address today's #GrandChallenges when mainly scholars from the #MinorityWorld are invited to shape this process (https://lnkd.in/e7UMaVtE)?

    ❓Why should I attend the PDW❓
Together with Anupama Kondayya and Markus A. Höllerer, we want to continue the discussion that we have started in this year's #AFAM and #INDAM Caucus workshops. After initial group discussions among all participants, Pablo Fernandez, Daniel Geiger, Sherwat Elwan IbrahimFarah KodeihDorothy MpabangaJuliana Rodrigues, and Prof. Sabyasachi Sinha will share their perspectives on which institutional arrangements need to be changed to realize this vision. In this way, we want to establish practical solutions to tackle the aforementioned problem and discuss ways to implement them.

    ❓How can I apply❓
You can submit a document containing your contact details and a short motivation statement by April 30 via the following link: https://lnkd.in/eMsKntYk. Participation is possible on-site or virtually.
