    The course addresses theories of new organizational forms and theories of new forms of organizations. During the course the tension between new ways of conceptualizing organizational processes will be discussed vis-à-vis conceptualizations of new organizational forms. Among the key issues which will be addressed are:

     

    ·         different conceptualizations of new organizational forms

    ·         new perspectives on organizations that highlight new aspects of organizations

    ·         theoretical frameworks for the analysis of new organizational forms

    ·         theories of managing self-managing employees

    ·         theories of project-, and team-based management

    ·         methodology and approaches related to researching new organizational forms

     

    Time and place

    16-20 November 2015. The course will take place at Roskilde University, Department of Communication, Business and Information Technologies.

     

    Teaching language

    English.

     

    Preparation

    Participants are required to read the literature; prepare a 2-page project presentation to be handed in prior to the course; prepare a presentation of one text; prepare a 10-minute presentation of theories of relevance to his/her own project at the end of the course.

     

    Participants

    PhD students of organization and management or related areas, with a basic knowledge of organization theory.

    Please note that registration to the course is binding. In case of cancellation of your registration/application after the deadline for application and up to two weeks prior to the course, a cancellation fee of 500 DKK will be charged. If cancellation is made less than two weeks prior to the course, there will be no refund of the course fee.

     

    Fee

    A small fee of approx. 1'000 DKK (around $150, €130) - covering meals (lunches and refreshments) during the course - will be charged. Students are required to find their own accommodation.

     

    Credits/evaluation

    5 ECTS.

    Certificates of completion will be issued only to those successfully completing all requirements of the course (including full attendance and submission of required assignments).
