2. Challenges to Organization Studies: New Metaphors for Making Organizations Meaningful - A symposium in honor of the 30th Anniversary of Gareth Morgan's Images of Organization.

This symposium draws from the popularity and widespread use of Gareth Morgan's book, Images of Organization, to challenge the field of organization and management to develop new metaphors that capture the nature of contemporary organizational life, including new organizational forms, digital technologies, globalization, and rapid changes. Panelists will examine how metaphors work, features that make them stick, and ways of generating new metaphors. Presenters will also explore the potential of alternative metaphors, including affect, genetic code, organizational media, and deep societal logics of change.
The session consists of short 10 minute presentations by Anders Ortenblad, David Grant and Cliff Oswick, Joep Cornelissen and Gareth Morgan, with Linda Putnam and Kiran Trehan facilitating the Q&A with the audience.
