Please join us for our annual workshop on Institutional Theory on Friday August 7th from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m at the Hyatt (Wrigley Hall). This year we are focusing on "Sorting out the Ideational in Institutional Theory" with a panel of top scholars discussing a range of approaches to conceptualizing the "work of meaning" in institutionalization. Royston Greenwood will discuss "theorization", Steve Maguire will present thoughts on the role of "discourse", Pat Thornton will describe "institutional logics", and Tammar Zilber will discuss the "translation" approach. Following these presentations Tina Dacin and Paul Hirsch will consider the distinctive contributions of each of these approaches and the relations among them. Participants will be invited to participate in roundtable dialogues with these scholars regarding how the varying approaches can be employed theoretically and empirically to explore the ideational in institutional processes.
