    2006 OMT JUNIOR FACULTY WORKSHOP
    August 11-13, 2006

    The OMT division is pleased to present the annual OMT Junior Faculty workshop. If you hold an assistant professor rank (or its equivalent), this professional development workshop is for you.  The Workshop tries to make available the knowledge that you need to live long and prosper in both the local and global academic environment. The Workshop focuses on strategies for impact as a scholar and teacher, as well as on building a career in diverse professional settings.  In the workshop, you will have a chance to interact with an exciting team of Workshop Faculty Fellows through panels, discussion and informal talk, and to meet many other peer colleagues starting out as assistant professors.

    The roster of Faculty Fellows for the 2006 Workshop includes:
    Beth Bechky (UC Davis), Stewart Clegg, (University of Technology Sydney), Rick Delbridge (University of Cardiff), Lex Donaldson (Australian Graduate School of Management), Kathleen Eisenhardt (Stanford University), Henrich Greve (Norwegian School of Management), Candace Jones, (Boston College), Theresa Lant (New York University), William Ocasio (Northwestern University), Mike Tushman (Harvard University), Ray Reagans (Columbia University), Jim Walsh (University of Michigan), Marvin Washington (University of Alberta)

     

    The Workshop will be held just prior to the <st1:placetype w:st="on">Academy</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Management</st1:placename> meetings in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Atlanta</st1:place></st1:city>, from Friday August 11th at 6pm through Sunday August 13th at 11:30 am. On Sunday you will meet editors from leading journals of special relevance to OMT.  There is limited enrollment to ensure that Workshop Faculty Fellows and participants have ample time to interact in formal and informal settings.   We expect 30-35 new faculty participants and the 14 or so Workshop Faculty Fellows.  You are more than welcome to apply for yourself, but we also encourage deans, department chairs, and other senior faculty to suggest this to workshop to junior faculty whom they think would benefit from the Workshop experience.

    To apply, send a nomination letter (or application) that includes the following: 

    1.    Name and address with current mail and e-mail addresses, telephone and fax numbers, as well as institutional affiliation
    2.     A 1-page description of your current research interests that will serve as your introduction to the other participants.
    3.    A current curriculum vitae (and indicate that you are a member of OMT).
    4.    Payment of $75.00 <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">U.S.</st1:country-region></st1:place> to defer the costs of the Friday night dinner, Saturday lunch, and Saturday and Sunday continental breakfast. (Dinner arrangements will be made for those interested at local restaurants on Saturday night, but the dinner will not be covered.) There are two payment options: 1. A check for $75.00 <st1:country-region w:st="on">U.S.</st1:country-region> payable to the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">Academy</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Management</st1:placename></st1:place> mailed to address below; 2. Payment by Visa, Mastercard or American Express. Please fax credit card number, expiration date, cardholder name, email or phone number, and amount of transaction ($75) to number below.

From 2:45-4:15 pm, the forum joins the OMT Teaching Roundtables to give you the opportunity to talk with exemplary scholars-teachers in small groups about courses and techniques for high impact teaching.

    To facilitate close personal engagement, space for this workshop is limited and participation is by application only. We expect about 30 participants.
