Dear Members of the OMT Division

At the forthcoming AoM Meeting in San Antonio we have organized a very interesting Professional Development Workshop (PDW) under the Management Education and Development (MED) division. The PDW will not be complete without your participation and we look forward to meeting you at the session, the details of which are as follows:

Title: Organizational Knowledge Creation: Conceptual Developments since Nonaka (1994)

    Date: Saturday, 13 August 2011

    Time: 1000-1200 hours

    Venue: Marriot Riverwalk Salon D

    Abstract:

Nonaka's (1994) knowledge-conversion (SECI) model is the most influential conception of how new knowledge is created in organizations. The 2009 Academy of Management Meeting had a well-attended PDW on this conception. A lot, however, has been contributed to the literature since Nonaka (1994), in terms of tacit knowledge and its conversion, knowledge and knowing, critique of Nonaka's model, etc. Nonaka's own conception has also evolved over the years. The proposed PDW extends the 2009 PDW to discuss how has the organizational knowledge creation literature evolved post-Nonaka (1994). The aim is to develop an understanding of the conceptual developments, and draw out different issues and perspectives and ways forward for addressing/synthesizing these.

    Kind regards
