The OMT, ENT, BPS and CAR divisions of the Academy of Management enthusiastically invite your participation in a PDW organized by the Research Committee of the Entrepreneurship Division:
"Entrepreneurial Resourcefulness and Resilience"
Saturday, Aug 4 2012 8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at Sheraton Boston Hotel in Republic A
At all times and in all places, most entrepreneurs build their ventures under conditions of resource constraint. They have few buffers to protect them from the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune that commonly characterize their day-to-day experience. While always important, the sorts of resourcefulness and resilience that some entrepreneurs are able to exhibit in response to these challenges are even more central during challenging economic times and in emerging economies.
Scholars have become increasingly aware that the our traditional models and theories give short shrift to helping us understand systematically what it is that entrepreneurs do to build ventures in the face of resource constraints and challenging environments. This PDW will sketch the contours of the state of the art in studying entrepreneurial resourcefulness and resilience. A combination of short working paper presentations and a moderated panel discussion by scholars who are constructing this academic frontier will engage participants in discussions of what we know and more importantly, the fundamental things we need to know but do not.
Participating authors include: Dean Shepherd, Steven Bradley, Jeff McMullen, Julienne Senyard, Per Davidsson, Erin Powell and Trenton Williams. Ted Baker will moderate.
We look forward to seeing you in Boston.
