Are you interested in social cognition? Would you like to develop your methodological repertoires beyond measuring cognition "one brain at a time" (Weick & Roberts 1993: 358)? If so, join us for the Measuring Collective Meaning PDW on Saturday, August 2nd, at the 2014 Academy of Management Annual Conference in Philadelphia.

Part I (open to all attendees and does not require pre-registration) Our expert panelists will provide an introduction to social cognition, focusing on theories of identity, categorization, and culture. These experts will pay particular attention to the various ways in which these concepts are measured, walking though examples of techniques from both published and ongoing research. At the culmination of Part I our expert panelists will address questions and offer advice.

Part II (proposal submission and pre-registration required) Our expert panelists will interact in small-group roundtables to discuss the specific methodological challenges that scholars are having. To ensure that these discussions are fruitful, we will align experts and authors based on specific interests. Therefore, pre-registration is required for this part of the workshop. A one-page "brief" write-up of a research dilemma should be submitted to the organizers by July 1, 2014. These "briefs" will be selected and shared for pre-reading among group members in advance of the PDW.
