Journal of Professions and Organization
Review Issue
Due September 30, 2018
Celebrating our fifth year of publishing top quality research on professionals and their work-places, the editorial team of the Journal of Professions and Organization (JPO) invites authors to submit manuscripts to our inaugural Review Issue. These articles should bring together, summarize and reflect upon recent research in a certain subfield. They provide integrations of relevant literatures and suggest fruitful directions for future work. Submissions can be related to any of the five interconnected subject areas described in our inaugural essay (Brock, Leblebici & Muzio, 2014), but also raise new themes. The five subject areas are:
· Organizational models and structures
· Micro-organizational issues
· Diversity, inclusion and the professions
· New/emerging professions, and new models of professionalization
· Societal issues and the broader political economy.
JPO is the premier outlet for research on professional organizations, including their work, management and leadership, in broader social and economic contexts. Whereas our focus is on the organizational level, we maintain a broad interest in professionals, the professions, professionalization, professional practice and relevant work-place issues. We are particularly receptive to interdisciplinary perspectives and contributions, with strong interests in all professional organizations, professional service firms (PSFs), the management of professionals, and public sector professionals (PSPs). While recognizing the importance of traditional professions, we welcome work on new professions, occupations claiming some professional status, and on knowledge workers more generally.
Submissions to the review issue ...
· should be within JPO's scholarly ambit (see https://academic.oup.com/jpo/pages/About);
· must comply with JPO's usual formatting guidelines (https://academic.oup.com/jpo/pages/Manuscript_Preparation); and
· are welcome at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jpo
The due date for submission to the review issue is September 30, 2018. Accepted papers will be published online soon after acceptance. We plan to publish the review issue in late 2019.
Prospective authors are welcome to contact us any time with any questions about the review issue, and/or concerning research in professional organizations, and/or any general queries about the Journal of Professions and Organization (http://jpo.oxfordjournals.org/).
