    Call for papers to sub-theme 20

     

     

    Financialization and its societal implications: Rethinking corporate governance and shareholders

    Convenors: Hugh Willmott, Emilio Marti, Jeroen Veldman

     

    Particularly since the 2008 financial crisis, organization scholars have become more interested in financialization and how financialization affects corporate behavior and broader society. We suggest that organization scholars can make a distinct contribution to our understanding of financialization by (1) analyzing the rise of a financialized approach to corporate governance and (2) exploring how different types of shareholders (hedge funds, socially responsible investors, etc.) influence corporations.
