Come join us to discuss the growing scholarly interest in temporary and episodic organizational forms! Researchers often characterize temporary organizing in terms of flexible rules, hierarchies, and organizational processes intended to increase the fit between an entity's shifting external environment and its internal arrangements. Although the study of such organizations has recently become a distinct category of interest among management scholars, the field is far from cohesive and a number of theoretical and empirical questions linger. This paper symposium aims to bring together scholars working at the intersection of temporality, projects, and organizations in a variety of novel theoretical and empirical settings-such as TV production, recorded music, and sport events- to 1) advance research on the boundary and scope conditions of the phenomenon, 2) the role of time in organizing, and 3) the range of appropriate methodological approaches.

We hope to use these papers as a platform to initiate an open conversation over these three critical issues. So bring your ideas, thoughts, and questions!
