HHL Summer School: Getting Your Work Published (June 18-22, 2007)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------

HHL invites Doctoral Students and Early Career Researchers to participate in this year's Summer School on research design and publication led by Professor Anne Sigismund Huff.

From June 18-22, 2007 Anne Sigismund Huff will offer an in-depth seminar on research design and scholarly publication for doctoral students and early career researchers.

This summer school will provide an overview of research design choices and preview the preparation of an academic paper that describes the result of scholarly activity. It emphasizes that scholarship takes place within specific communities. The individual scholar's choice of research subject and subsequent academic activities are influenced by his/her opportunities, interests, and skills, but also by the interests and previous accomplishments of the chosen audience.

The course will be based on Professor Anne Sigismund Huff's well-known book "Writing for Scholarly Publication" and her forthcoming piece on "Making a Theoretical Contribution". For five days Professor Anne Sigismund Huff will share with you some of her hard-learned lessons of academic scholarship. In addition, she has invited Dr. Tobias Fredberg, Research Director at FENIX, and Dr. Frank T. Piller, MIT & TUM, to give you additional insights about how to climb the greasy pole of academia.

The Summer School will take place at HHL - Germany's premier business school - in Leipzig from June 18 - 22, 2007. The participation fee for the full week is EUR 3,000,-. Scholarships are available for outstanding candidates.

Numbers of participants are limited so please register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. To apply, please submit your CV and the title and abstract (250 word maximum) of THREE possible first papers via email to Christine Gille (christine.gille@hhl.de). Ideas can be quite similar, or completely different, but each should be a candidate for the paper you want to develop during the seminar.
