    JMS-SAMS Authors and Reviewers Workshop

    A workshop on publishing for those getting started

    In conjunction with the Critical Management Studies
    Conference (CMS5)


    DATE: Tuesday July 10 (10am-5pm)

    LOCATION: Staff House Room 4/5 (3rd floor), Staff
    House Building,
    Sacksville St, The University of Manchester,
    Manchester, UK

    DESCRIPTION: The JMS-SAMS Authors and Reviewers
    Workshop aims to develop
    participants' ability to successfully navigate and
    engage in the journal
    publishing process. It is run in conjunction with the
    Critical
    Management Studies Conference (CMS5) - beginning on
    Wednesday July 11.

    COST AND SPONSORS: The workshop will be free to
    participants. The event
    has been generously sponsored by the Society for
    Advancement of
    Management Studies (SAMS) and the Journal of
    Management Studies (JMS).

    DETAILS: This 'hands on' is for doctoral students and
    recently graduated
    PhDs in management studies attending the Critical
    Management Studies
    Conference (July 11-13). The workshop includes
    exercises that strengthen
    authoring and reviewing abilities. It includes
    discussion with editors
    and authors and will conclude with presentations on
    non-journal
    publishing formats and outlets. Some preparatory
    materials will be sent
    to participants before the event.

    Timothy Clark,
    Editor of the Journal of Management Studies, will
    discuss editorial
    process and the 'ins-and-outs' of successful article
    writing and
    reviewing for publication. Workshop sessions then run
    until 3.45pm.
    11.00-11.50. Workshop Session 1
    12.00- 1.30. Lunch and Preparation
    1.45- 2.30. Workshop Session 2

    2.45-3.30 Workshop Plenary
    3.45- 5.00 Final Plenary: 'Finding other 'homes' for
    your work in
    the wider world of publishing'. The session includes
    presentations and
    discussion with Sage book editors, Open Access journal
    spokespersons and
    Digital Repository managers.
