Dear Colleagues,
This is a call for submission of abstracts to the sub-theme:
Organizational network research: Learning and performance in organizational
networks, held at the 23rd EGOS Colloquium Beyond Waltz - Dances of
Individuals and Organization, in Vienna July 5-7, 2007.
The deadline is January 15th!
The convenors of the sub-theme are:
David Knoke, University of Minnesota;
Marius T.H. Meeus, Tilburg University;
Linda Argote, Carnegie Mellon University Business School
Paul Ingram, Columbia University Business School
and myself, Amalya Oliver, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
The 2007 colloquium focuses on the interrelations between networks of
learning and organizational performance. It is assumed that having access
to information is not enough to improve performance. Interorganizational
learning requires also common codes of communication and coordinated
search procedures. Thus, the N form offers many opportunities such as
recognizing dysfunctional routines or preventing strategic blind spots,
all of which may have an impact on organizational future capabilities and
performance.
By approaching learning both as an individual and a collective process we
ask - do networks help or hinder learning, do they hinder or improve
performance, or does learning improve performance? The multilevel aspect
of individual and collective learning makes it difficult to measure and
model 'interorganizational learning' in general, which makes it important
to discuss methodological aspects of network research that includes
learning.
While applying a wide and dynamic definition of networks, we call for
original research that tackles these issues using various methods from
qualitative to quantitative and multi-methods studies.
We would like to invite you to submit your abstract to our sub-theme. You can
submit your abstract online at:

amalya
