    Dear colleagues,

I am looking for a sort of guide to help students manage their research
group. I checked all the methods/methodology books I have in my shelf
but, apparently, this seems to be a somewhat neglected issue.

    Can anyone help?

    Regards
    Ingo

    Hi Ingo,

Some resources I've drawn on in the past are:

    http://www.dlsweb.rmit.edu.au/eng/BENG0001/LEARNING/teamwork/index.html

And an article that discusses various issues related to effective teamwork is that by Barbara Oakley and colleagues called "Turning Student Groups into Effective Teams, in the Journal of Student Centered Learning, Vol 2, issue 1 (2004) : 9-34.

Here's another one from the Journal of Management Education: http://jme.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/23/5/467. Although I'm not sure about the empirical side, they do have some good references to literature and some straightforward advice.

    Good luck!

    Alan
