Final Call for ACSCOS 'Heat' Colloquium, Nov 29-Dec 1, Melbourne, Australia:  Includes Registration and Important Updates

    Registration:

This message is to let you know that registration for ACSCOS 2010 is now open online at http://www.deakin.edu.au/buslaw/management-marketing/acscos/register.php

Please register by October 15 to ensure your place and to assist us in planning and catering.  Thanks to generous sponsorship, fees for the colloquium are A$325 or A$215 for students. There is a one day only rate for local students of A$22. All prices include GST:

    ·         Full registration includes opening reception, lunches, teas and a fully catered conference dinner at the Melbourne Museum: http://www.deakin.edu.au/buslaw/management-marketing/acscos/conference-dinner.php

    ·         Partner registration is A$165, which includes welcome drinks and the conference dinner.

    Important Updates:

    ·         Although our student bursaries have now been awarded, we are now able to waive/refund full registration fees for a limited number of doctoral students with abstracts or papers accepted at ACSCOS.

    ·         We are also able to offer a limited number of equity bursaries for other presenters who are able to demonstrate a case for waiver of full registration fees.  Please note that we are unable to assist with any other costs.

    ·         We are still accepting late submissions but please let either of us know if you are planning to submit as we are currently working on the preliminary program.  This will be loaded on the website below within the next few weeks.  At this stage there will be about 50 presentations.

    ·         Before ACSCOS:

    1.       You may be interested in joining a walking tour of Gertrude Street, Fitzroy (see http://melbourneonmelbourne.com/visit/gertrude-street-fitzroy/ ) from 3-4.30 pm on Monday November 29 – meet at 2.30pm at the front of the Metropole Hotel, 44 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy in the reception/café area.  There is no charge for the tour. The tour will cover stories of the area, which is one of Melbourne's first suburbs and traditionally working class, provide information on the contribution of migrant and indigenous populations in this street and surrounding areas and point out buildings of architectural interest. The distance covered by the walk is not far (no more than 3 blocks) – but the history and life of the street should be really interesting.

    ·         After ACSCOS:

    1.       You may like to attend the inaugural meeting of the proposed Australasian Business Ethics Network (AUSBEN), 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm on 1 December 2010, also at the Metropole Hotel.  AUSBEN is inspired by and will be connected with the European Business Ethics Network. In particular it will stress work on questions that are of political importance and that are challenging and theoretically grounded.  It will be an open network for the free exchange of ideas in the best tradition that stresses responsibility, ethics, and critique. There is no additional charge and all are welcome.  Please contact Michelle Greenwood (michelle.greenwood@buseco.monash.edu.au) or Jan Schapper (j.schapper@latrobe.edu.au) for further information about AUSBEN.
