    The University of Technology, Sydney, is in the process of developing exciting new strategies and approaches to Management that will be situated in its new Frank Gehry designed Business School. Shortly there will be a major tranche of over 20 positions across the Faculty to be advertised. For the moment we are are seeking to fill the following two positions:  

    KEY SELECTION CRITERIA – ACADEMIC STAFF

    UTS:HUMAN RESOURCES

     

    Position:              Professor, Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Management and Organisational Studies

     

    Unit:                     School of Management, Faculty of Business

     

     

    SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

     

    ·       Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups and to contribute constructively as a member of School, Faculty and University Boards, committees and other groups.

    ·       Ability to work effectively with existing research teams, and to provide leadership in developing new teams.

    ·       Ability to motivate staff and students.

    ·       Ability to develop, revise, and coordinate leading edge subjects and courses.

    ·       Ability to establish and enhance international links and relationships with relevant professional, scholarly and community bodies.

    ·       Flexibility as regards patterns and location of teaching (days, evenings, block release, at either or both campuses or in off campus settings).

     

     

    KNOWLEDGE

     

    Senior Lecturer

    ·       Demonstrated knowledge of Management and Organisation Studies with established experience in at least two teaching areas of the School.

    ·       In-depth knowledge of research and scholarship in own areas of expertise

    ·       An understanding of and ability to apply the principles and practices of effective teaching at a university level.

    ·       Understanding of and ability to apply equal opportunity in the work place.

    Additional for Professor and Associate Professor

    Cutting edge knowledge  of the field of management and organisational studies

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

     

    ·       Doctoral degree in Management and Organisational Studies

     

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

     

    Senior Lecturer

    ·       Teaching experience in management and organisational studies with evidence of good teaching performance

    ·       Evidence (list of publications) of a capacity to undertake high quality research that well lead to journal publications in the field of management and organisational studies

    ·       Demonstrated capacity to contribute collaboratively to at least one of the research strengths of the School of Management

    ·       Engagement with industry and/or professions

    ·       Well established research and publication record in the field of management and organisational studies including publications in leading, high quality, referred international journals.

    Additional for Professor and Associate Professor

    ·     An outstanding research record in organisational studies including a significant number of publications in high quality refereed international journals and other scholarly outlets.

    ·     Demonstrated success in obtaining major competitive research grants.

    ·     Proved leadership in management and organisational studies/ and established international research networks and collaborations.

    ·     Demonstrated experience in providing high quality teaching and supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

    ·     A proven track record of excellent achievement in teaching, course development and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

    ·     Development and teaching of innovative subjects and courses in area of specialisation.

    ·     Experience of management practice gained through employment, consulting or research.

     


     

    POSITION STATEMENT – ACADEMIC STAFF

    FACULTY/SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT/UNIT:            School of Management, Faculty of Business

     

    ACADEMIC SUPERVISOR'S POSITION :            Head of School, School of Management

     

    DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

    Contribute to the School's undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, postgraduate supervision and research in Management and Organisational Studies.

     TEACHING AND LEARNING/EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

    Academic/Teaching

    ·       Subject development/revision, as appropriate.

    ·       Supervising Honours, Masters and Doctoral level research projects.

    ·       Providing leadership in subject and course development/revision.

    ·       Teaching in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as required.

    ·       Teaching in either or both the City and Kuring-gai Campuses, weekdays, weekends, evenings and in block release format and in off campus setting, as required.

     

     RESEARCH AND SCHOLARSHIP

    Senior Lecturer

    ·       Carrying out research and publishing academic papers in relevant areas.

    ·       Maintaining an international profile as a scholar.

    ·       Establishing and leading research teams.

    ·       Involvement in appropriate consulting and/or continuing education activities, with approval by the Head of School and Dean. 

     

    Additional for Professor and Associate Professor

    ·       Providing research leadership to staff of the School.

    ·       Obtaining and successfully managing research grants.

    ·       Formulating and acting on Faculty and School research plans, strategies and objectives.

    ·       Enhancing the School's international links.

     

     ADMINISTRATION, MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP

    ·       Coordinating subjects and/or programs in the area of management and organisational studies.

    ·       Selecting and supervising academic staff.

    ·       Involvement in the selection and supervision of casual teaching staff.

    ·       Participating in and providing leadership in School Meetings, academic interest group meetings and committees and sub-committees, as appropriate.

    ·       Carrying out other duties as directed by the Head of School.

     

     

     OTHER

    ·       Be prepared to carry out duties at any of the University's campuses as the teaching, administrative and research needs of the School dictate.

    ·       Attend graduation and other University functions.

    ·       Contribute to the standing of the University in the professional and broader community.

    ·       Demonstrated commitment to scholarship in Management

    ·       Ability to successfully lead and direct academic/teaching programs

    ·       Proved capacity to develop industry links and obtain research funding.
