I have subscribed to this listserv for a long time and always appreciate
the information and guidance provided to member's inquiries.
I am researching and coordinating a new teacher orientation at Syosset High
School where I am employed as an Assistant Principal. I conduct annual new
teacher orientation programs and will be training new teachers in Emotional
Intelligence research in September 2009. I would like to ask the members of
this list if they could recommend one book that would be a good orientation
to emotional intelligence for my targeted sample. The cohort of new
teachers would number around 20 and are mostly recent graduates with
Master's degrees and limited teaching experience.
A book that is not too technical would be preferred in order to motivate
teachers into incorporating this information into their practice and
pedagogy.
Hopefully, I can structure this program in such a way that it would lead to
a contribution to the research database on emotional intelligence in
organizations.
