    The Workshop

     

    Please join us for a faculty development workshop designed to introduce and reinforce key concepts and methods for teaching international negotiation to a university-level audience. Workshop leaders will provide participants with exposure to a range of negotiation paradigms, techniques, and materials. Topics include:

    -          Negotiation Fundamentals

    -          Planning for International Negotiation

    -          Experiential Exercises

    -          Evaluating Negotiation Behavior and Outcomes

    -          Strategies for Major Pedagogical Challenges

    The workshop leaders will be joined by guest experts – both practitioners and scholars/teachers – who will provide further insight into strategies for creating and delivering world-class international negotiation courses.

    The Instructors

     

    Steve Weiss, the workshop co-leader for the 5th time, is an international negotiation specialist with 25 years of teaching experience in academic and corporate settings. As an associate professor of policy and international business at the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto, Canada, he has received both the School's and University's highest awards for graduate teaching. He is a visiting professor at HEC School of Management in France and has taught in such other countries as Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Botswana, India, China, and Japan.

     

    Alain Lempereur is the negotiation and mediation chair professor at ESSEC Paris and has been a visiting professor at Harvard Law School and the University of Mannheim. In 1995, he founded ESSEC IRÉNÉ (Institute for Research and Education on Negotiation in Europe). Lempereur has published a dozen books on leadership, negotiation, mediation, and persuasion, and has created and led hundreds of negotiation, mediation, and leadership courses around the world. He has worked with organizations such as the European Commission, NATO, and the World Health Organization.
