THE UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA School of Business invites applications for
a tenure-track position in the field of INNOVATION and ENTREPENEURSHIP
starting July 1, 2013.
Appointments at a more senior level (Associate or Full Professor) may
be considered depending on qualifications and experience. For an
associate/full professor appointment, candidates must have a PhD, a
reputation for making high quality contributions to top tier journals,
and evidence of teaching excellence. For an appointment at the
assistant professor level, candidates must have, or be close to
completing, a PhD in an appropriate field, with demonstrated potential
to publish top-level research and achieve teaching excellence;
appointment in the latter case will be contingent upon the completion
of the PhD by an agreed-upon date. Success in obtaining research
grants and scholarly activities will also be considered. Proficiency
in English is required.
Note, applicants who have earned a PhD degree less than 10 years ago,
may be considered for a Canada Research Chair Tier 2

This prestigious appointment, tenable for five years and renewable
once, is for exceptional emerging researchers, acknowledged by their
peers as having the potential to lead in their field.
Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate
levels, conducting and publishing research in top tier journals,
supervising graduate students, and service to the School’s academic
activities. The School of Business has an energetic PhD program and
the successful candidate will be expected to play an active role in
its continuing success and development.
We are especially interested in finding someone who can take a
leadership role in our Innovation and Entrepreneurship MBA
specialization. This specialization addresses a broad range of skills
and issues in innovation and entrepreneurship, including those related
to family business and technology commercialization. The position will
also support research and outreach in the University of Alberta's
Centre for Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise and Technology
Commercialization Centre. Both Centres are research focused, but also
aim to engage practitioners and policy audiences in ways that enhance
the educational experience of our students and the visibility of our
school in the wider community.
