    Dear OMT members,

You're warmly invited to participate in a one-day interdiciplinary symposium on continuities, disruptions, and management in the sharing economy. https://www.talkingaboutorganizations.com/sharing-economy

The symposium is held December 15th, 2017 9.00-17.00 at the School of Business, Management, and Economics, University of Sussex, Brighton (UK). It will provide a venue for scholars to explore contemporary work and employment dynamics in the sharing/online gig economy, to go beyond the hype and examine continuities - as well as disruptions - for instance in the ways labour is increasingly managed more through algorithms rather than people and how work is organized and managed with online labour platforms, such as Uber, Deliveroo and Upwork.

The symposium is of exploratory character and will include a mix of presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions in which participants can discuss their work in small groups. It will also feature many networking opportunities throughout the day.

We aim to advance our understanding of the sharing economy, with specific attention to its relation to the classics in management and organizational scholarship; and to explore methods suitable to grasp the sharing economy as an object of inquiry.

    Confirmed speakers include:
Prof Natalia Levina (NYU) | Dr Mareike Möhlmann (WBS)
Dr Greetje Corporaal (University of Oxford) | Ms Arianna Tassinari (WBS)
Ms Sarah O' Connor (Financial Times) | Dr Rebecca Prentice (Sussex)
