Organizations and Management Position Description
The Department of Management and Marketing at UMass Boston invites
applications for an open-rank faculty position beginning September 1, 2012,
with a preference for a senior appointment. The position will primarily
support the new interdisciplinary Ph.D. track in Organizations and Social
Change, which provides a distinctive trans-disciplinary, critical and
comparative approach to organization and management studies. Candidates from
a variety of backgrounds are welcome to apply, but should possess research
and teaching interests at the intersection of business and society, such as
sustainability, diversity, social entrepreneurship, inequality, dimensions
of globalization, the changing nature of work, and consumer culture and
identity.
Appropriate candidates will hold an earned Ph.D./DBA in Management or
closely related discipline and possess significant experience teaching and
supervising in a doctoral program. The department is part of the
AACSB-accredited College of Management, which offers two bachelor and five
masters degrees; a PhD Program begins Fall 2012. Total enrollment has grown
rapidly to about 2400 students. The college has recently established a
Center for Sustainable Enterprise & Regional Competitiveness and a Center
for Entrepreneurship.
Numerous opportunities for research and collaboration exist with faculty,
businesses, institutes and research centers in the university system and in
the greater Boston area. The region is a global hub of innovation and
expertise in a number of sectors, including financial services, clean tech,
healthcare, life sciences, education, and software.
