Douglas and Diana Berthiaume Endowed Chair in Management

    Isenberg School of Management

    University of Massachusetts - Amherst

The Management Department of the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking talented applicants at the level of advanced Associate or Full Professor in the area of Organizational Behavior or Human Resource Management.  This position will fill the newly endowed Douglas and Diana Berthiaume Endowed Chair.  This chair is reserved for scholars of international renown who maintain an active program of prominent research; evidence of teaching excellence at the MBA, undergraduate, and doctoral levels; and a demonstrated track-record of institution building.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Management or a related discipline and be an Associate or Full Professor with tenure at their current institution.  Applicants should possess the leadership abilities required to help shape the intellectual agenda within the Department of Management, and contribute meaningfully to school-level strategic needs.  Within the Management Department, this individual will play a central role in the Organization Studies Ph.D. program by shaping the future direction for the program, as well as teaching and advising doctoral students.  This individual is also expected to have the requisite skills to effectively deliver MBA and executive education: an ability to teach in both faceto face and distance formats to students who have considerable work experience is highly desirable.  The selected candidate would further be expected to contribute to the growth of the department and the professional development of early-career faculty.  At the school level, this individual will join a select group of endowed professors who play a multidimensional role across the Isenberg School by providing thought leadership in their area of scholarship; creating a destination of choice for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students; and serving as the School's ambassadors.

The Management Department has a thriving undergraduate program and contributes to a highly reputed MBA program at the Isenberg School.  In addition to the Ph.D. program in Organization Studies, the Management Department also offers a doctoral program in Strategic Management.  The Management faculty conduct research that furthers state-of-the-art knowledge in their respective areas of expertise.  This research has appeared in top-ranked journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, and Journal of Management Studies.  For more information about the department and faculty research, please visit: http://www.isenberg.umass.edu/management.

McCormack Department of Sport Management, ranked among the top 5 and top 2 programs in the nation, respectively.  Isenberg's undergraduate business program was ranked by BusinessWeek in 2014 as the 36th best program in the country, and the 14th best among public universities, and 11th overall on BusinessWeek's Employer Survey which measured recruiter perceptions of which programs turned out the best graduates.  In 2014 U.S. News & World Report, Isenberg's Full-time MBA ranked as the 26th best among public universities (51st overall), and in 2015 the Part-time MBA (which includes both our evening and online programs) was 9th best among public universities (16th overall).  Our national competitiveness has helped us to attract 1,300 students to our Full-time, Blended, and Online MBA programs.  Ph.D. tracks are offered in each discipline.
