Dear European OMT scholars,
In contemporary corporations digital data is ubiquitous, and data-driven practices are increasingly used to monitor and automate business processes. Information systems create hyper-real representations of the employees, workers, customers, and business processes. We believe the impact of digital data goes well beyond the traditional domains of management information systems and operations research, touching upon many of the core ideas in organization and management theory.
To explore these changes, and to strengthen the European research community examining these changes, Aalto University School of Business is organizing a workshop on the beautiful Suomenlinna island in front of Helsinki on Wednesday September 6th, 2017. This is an informal and developmental workshop among organizational scholars interested in studying and theorizing how the digital data and its various affordances influence the central phenomena of in "mainstream management". Potential themes include e.g.: sensemaking, strategy processes, inter-firm relationships, and organizational opacity/transparency.
Unfortunately the deadline for Abstracts is already August 1st. Please see the attached ad for more details, also available on web
