    We are continuing to accept applications for a position in strategy at the University of Southern Mississippi. The announcement follows:


    The University of Southern Mississippi Department of Management and Marketing invites applications for a tenure-track position in Management beginning in January or August 2009. All ranks will be considered.

    The <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Southern Mississippi</st1:placename></st1:place> is a Carnegie doctoral/research-extensive and four-year Class 1 Southern Regional Education Board institution with an enrollment of approximately 15,000. The <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">College</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename></st1:place> has a student enrollment of about 2,000 and a full-time faculty of 65; it is AACSB accredited at both the undergraduate and master's levels. The Hattiesburg Metropolitan Statistical Area is the southern <st1:state w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Mississippi</st1:place></st1:state> regional center for educational, medical, and retail services.

    Additionally, the regional campuses on the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Mississippi</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">Gulf</st1:placetype> <st1:placetype w:st="on">Coast</st1:placetype></st1:place> have more than 1,500 students, of whom 450 are in business disciplines. The <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">Gulf</st1:placetype> <st1:placetype w:st="on">Coast</st1:placetype></st1:place> is a major tourism center and hub of economic activity with a population of more than 500,000.

      Job Duties and Responsibilities: Candidates interested in a balance among teaching, research and service are encouraged to apply. Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas is necessary: general management or management strategy.  

    Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have earned doctorates in management at the time of appointment and should demonstrate strong evidence or promise of scholarly research and effective teaching.
