    On using mechanical Turk:

    1) You are essentially paying someone $5 an hour, this is below minimum wage. I think most of us think that there should be a minimum wage and using this to subvert that is unethical.

    2) I've never met an IRB that would allow for voice data to be sent to 20 of your closest, entirely anonymous, friends.

What does the OMT community think?

    Dear colleagues,

A couple of weeks ago I sent out a request asking for recommendations of software, techniques, transcription services and other resources for transcribing qualitative audio-recorded interviews. Thank you for the many helpful answers! Please find attached the compilation of responses.

Thanks again and have a great day!

    Hi Rohny,

Thanks for your critical remarks on Amazon's mechanical turk. I don't have any experiences using mechanical turk myself but appreciate your comment as I think it will be useful for me and others looking for transcription services. I personally concur with you on not supporting any business with unethical practices.
