    Dear Colleagues

We all know how hard it is to find a good copyeditor.  In this regard, I would like to recommend Ms. Julie Martyn.  Julie has just finished copyediting a dissertation written by an international doctoral student I was advising, and I was most impressed by her thoroughness, timeliness, and especially the quality of her work.  Julie writes:

In the past I have assisted with conference papers, theses, research articles and undergraduate assignments. I have direct relationships with UQ, USC, and Monash. Clients include academics as well as students. Mostly, but not exclusively, their first language does not happen to be English.

Apart from the usual copyediting and proofreading services I also offer advice in the comments on language use so that clients can learn more about the language from my intervention. I also seek clarification, offering alternatives in phrasing when ambiguity exists in the writing. All of this is designed so that the author remains in control of the writing.

Julie's rates are AUD30 (USD23 at today's exchange) per 1000 words.  For dissertations, the rate is negotiable (see attachment).

    Best wishes
