PLEASE NOTE: THIS WORKSHOP IS OPEN TO ALL, INCLUDING THOSE WITH QUALITATIVE OR QUANTITATIVE METHODS BACKGROUNDS. PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
This is the fourth Professional Development Workshop (PDW) in a series on methods for examining cultural knowledge. The purpose of this PDW is to focus on how to integrate qualitative and quantitative methodological approaches in examining cultural knowledge (the beliefs, values, norms and practices shared by members of an organization, industry, field, nation-state or other population) as part of mixed method process. The PDW will offer a step- by-step guide to conducting studies that incorporate the latest advances in both qualitative and quantitative techniques in a holistic way. We will discuss all four stages of the research process involved in a mixed-method study of cultural knowledge: research question formation, interviewing, survey design, and data analysis. We will focus our attention on how the four stages fit together. At the end of our session, we will hold breakout discussion groups to discuss how to apply this approach to participant's ongoing research and future research ideas. By examining the complete process of integration of qualitative and quantitative techniques in examining cultural knowledge, our workshop provides researchers with tools for examining cultural knowledge in a comprehensive way.
Pre-registration is required for this workshop. To register online, please visit https://secure.aom.org/PDWReg. The deadline to register online is August 7, 2015.
