Dear OMTers,
The FT is engaging in behavior that delegitimates our top journals. It has sent the following email to schools:
I'm pleased to inform you that the FT is launching a review of the 45 journals used in its research rank. The revised list will be used in the MBA 2017 ranking onward.
We have selected for review the 10 journals with the least number of hits. They are as following:
- Academy of Management Perspectives
- Academy of Management Review
- Administrative Science Quarterly
- California Management Review
- Econometrica
- Harvard Business Review
- Journal of Political Economy
- Journal of the American Statistical Association
- Quarterly Journal of Economics
- RAND Journal of Economics
Schools that did take part in either the MBA and Online MBA 2016 rankings or are taking part in the current EMBA ranking are allocated one vote each.
The list will remain 45 strong. Each school needs to select 5 journals to drop and to suggest 5 new journals.
Please submit your school's vote to me by Friday 17 June. A second round of voting may be carried out for the 5 new journals if no clear "winners" emerge.
After this email, our MBA administrators were going along and wanting to substitute third tier journals.
PLEASE EMAIL BOTH your school personnel who received this email and also FT
Laurent Ortmans: mba@ft.com I will get off my soapbox now.
