What is to be done if you are not happy with OMTNet? Tough question, isn't
it? There are two avenues to improve your satisfaction with OMT. The first
has to do with content, and the solution is simple: send more and better
postings to the (new and improved!) OMT list at
OMT@aomlists.pace.edu .
Today, however, I will focus on the formal aspects of the list.
One of the salient features of the new software is the ability to customize
the format of the list to suit the needs of each user. This customization
is accessible to each user, meaning the moderator (that is, me) does not
have to guess what the needs of the users are. There are many possibilities
to chose from, including (but not limited to) html, mime or text formatting,
digest or individual messages, acknowledgements or not and so forth.
What is to be done if you are not happy with the formatting? We have changed
lists, and toying with formats is within your reach! Know, then, that you
can manage your new subscription at
http://aomlists.pace.edu . To manage
your list subscription you will need to create a LISTSERV PASSWORD on the
aomlists.pace.edu list server. This password applies to all AOM mail lists
you subscribe to, not just OMT. To create a LISTSERV password for
aomlists.pace.edu:
1) Go to
http://aomlists.pace.edu.
2) Click on "Get a LISTSERV password for this server".
3) In the "E-Mail Address" field enter your list subscription email address.
In the "Password" field enter the password you would like to use and then
re-type the same password in the "Password (again)" field. Click the
"Register Password" button.
4) A confirmation email message will be sent to your mailbox. To activate
your password click on the link provided in the confirmation message. NOTE:
You will not be able to log into the server until you click on the link in
the confirmation email message.
To manage your list subscription settings:
1) Go to
http://aomlists.pace.edu.
2) Click on the "Log in" link in the upper right-hand corner.
3) Enter your login credentials and click on the "Login" button. On the next
page click on "follow this link" (red text).
4) On the next page, click on "Subscriber's Corner".
5) The next page will display the lists that you are subscribed to. To
manage your settings for a particular list, click on the name of the list.
The list names are on the right-hand portion of the page, under the column
labeled "List names".
6) On the Subscription Settings page you will see all your configurable
options. Be sure to enter your name in the "Your name" field. If you have
questions about a particular option simply click on the name of the option
heading to view the help page which describes the options in detail. For
example, to get an explanation of all the "Subscription Type" options, click
on the words "Subscription Type".
7) To save your new settings click on the "Update Options" button at the
bottom of the page.
Thank you to Bret Hilton, Technical Specialist and staff at AOM for his help
