Dear all,
As you may have noticed, OMT has been malfunctioning for the past 36 hours,
and many of you have been getting a large quantity of old messsages from OMT.
First, please accept my apologies for the inconvenience. We have had our
share of issues with our listserver over the years, but most were invisible
to most of you. This one was not.
Then, just a reminder that all listservers are hosted by AOM, and are under
the supervision of a qualified and helpful technical team. This won´t
reduce the irritation that dozens of emails have caused, but it is a
consolation to know there is a group of people working hard so this does not
happen again.
Yet, we are here to help. If you have any additional issues, do not hesitate
to let me know. It is always better if you use my email address instead of
the list´s, but even if you do send it to the list I will catch your message
before it is broadcasted to the Universe.
We are committed to keep OMT listserve as useful as possible for as long as
possible, and even though I believe its usefulness will decline in the next
few years, it is a cool piece of code.
For memory, OMT listserve was launched when many Universities still did not
have email for everybody. Before Netscape launched its IPO, and before
people knew what a browser was. It still uses txt (and now html) because
when it was launched it was impossible to send html messages. Java did not
exist, nor did Google, Microsoft was the archetype of an innovative firm
with its launch of a true multitask GUI, and the founders of Facebook were
in diapers.
Please accept our apologies once again. We´ll fix it as soon as possible.
Best regards to you all from your friendly moderator,
Pablo MARTIN de HOLAN Ph.D.
