    The Rucks Department of Management PhD Program in the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business offers qualified students a unique opportunity to pursue full-time advanced study in the fields of human-resource management, organizational behavior and theory, and strategic management. Located in the state capital of Baton Rouge (70 miles northwest of New Orleans), LSU is known for being part of a unique and fun culture celebrated internationally for its music, art, and food. As the flagship institution of the state, LSU is one of the nation's leading research-intensive universities.

    The Rucks Department of Management PhD Program's strengths include:

     

    > A philosophically diverse and internationally recognized faculty with a commitment to excellence in teaching and research. Faculty research has appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, and Organizational Research Methods, among others.

     

    > Concentrations in Strategic Management or Organizational Behavior/Human-Resource Management as a major field of study, along with a range of support/minor areas. The inter-disciplinary nature of the program provides students with a solid background in both fields.

Students are encouraged to submit manuscripts for presentation and publication from their first year in the program, and are encouraged to collaborate with other students and faculty member.

More senior students may also be given teaching responsibilities to develop their teaching skills.

    Inquiries and applications are welcome from individuals with a strong desire to excel in academic research and teaching. Admission requirements are high achievement in prior degree programs (typically a 3.5 GPA or greater), a GMAT score of at least 600, and strong letters of recommendation and statement of purpose. Given the limited number of students admitted, meeting these requirements does not guarantee admission.

    Applications received by January 15 will be given priority; consideration for available program spaces is on a rolling basis thereafter.
