    New Strategy Teaching Tools Website

Some of you may be familiar with Mason Carpenter's old strategy teaching toolkit. I have initiated a new site that includes everything from that site plus quite a few additional exercises and videos. Please check it out at:

    www.CarpenterStrategyToolbox.com.

You can filter by type of tool (exercise, video, etc.) using the tabs at the top or you can filter by topic in a strategy course (5 forces, RBV, global, etc.) using the categories on the right side. You should find something useful in no time at all.

Please help make the site more useful:

    ·       Comment on tools you have used in class (adding tips, etc.)

    ·       Submit new tools so the resource is always growing

    ·       Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions

Here are links to a few exercises and resources that you might find useful (to give you a feel):

    ·       Global Alliance Game (focus is on the search for complementarities and hazards in negotiating to take advantage of them).

    ·       MicroDesign Negotiation explores the challenges and costs of coordinating across business units (debrief focuses on organizational design and incentives to promote coordination).

    ·       Words in sentences is another org design exercise where the focus is on how different designs affect task performance.

    ·       Tinkertoy exercise (focus can be resources, first mover advantage, strategy under uncertainty, or strategy process - among other things).
