    INSTRUCTOR/ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT
    (NON-TENURE TRACK)

    The Labovitz School of Business and Economics at the University of Minnesota Duluth invites applications for a full-time one year term faculty position in the Department of Management Studies in the area of Strategic Management beginning August 29, 2011.
    Approximately 2100 undergraduate and 70 graduate students are currently enrolled in the school's programs. Both the undergraduate and graduate programs are AACSB-International accredited. There are currently 48 full-time faculty members in five academic departments: Accounting, Economics, Finance and Management Information Sciences, Marketing, and Management Studies (which includes Human Resources and Organizational Management). The School offers the Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Business Administration and MBA degrees. Regional outreach is accomplished primarily through activities of the School's Center for Economic Development and the Bureau of Business and Economic Research.     The individual hired for this position will have responsibilities in teaching, research and service. The individual will teach Strategic Management and elective courses in the area of Organization Theory, International Management, Mgmt of Technology, or Organizations and the Natural Environment and possibly a graduate Strategic Management course. Currently, the teaching and research load are dependent on qualifications. For a candidate possessing a master's degree, the teaching load is currently seven courses per year and there are no research expectations. For a candidate who is ABD or has a PhD, the teaching load is six courses per year and the candidate is expected to engage in the creation of knowledge in the area of Strategic Management resulting in its dissemination through the publication of refereed articles in recognized journals, the presentation of papers, other acceptable channels and through one's teaching. The individual will be responsible for advising undergraduate students and working with student organizations and is expected to engage in service activities with colleagues, the department, School, campus, community and professional organizations.

    Essential Qualifications
    (1) Applicants must have a minimum of a Masters degree in Business Administration or other equivalent programs, such as an MA or MSc in Management, with substantive coursework in strategic management, or be ABD in this discipline from an AACSB-International accredited institution.
    (2) Applicants must exhibit abilities, skills and enthusiasm consistent with teaching excellence and instructional innovation in the area of Strategic Management and management-related elective courses.
    (3) If the applicant has only a Master's degree and is not ABD or PhD in this discipline, then the applicant must have significant practical experience in the strategic management field sufficient to make the applicant "academically or professionally qualified" under LSBE's definition (visit https://lsbe.d.umn.edu/dean/aqpqdefinition.php).
    (4) Applicants must exhibit a willingness to fulfill service responsibilities to students, colleagues, the department, School, campus, and community.

    Preferred Qualification
    (1) Ph.D. from an AACSB-International accredited institution in strategic management.
    (2) College-level teaching experience in strategic management and management-related elective courses also preferred.
