PDW: Culture and language in market and field processes
Sunday, August 13, 9:30 - 11:30am
Atlanta Marriott Marquis, International 7 - International Level
This 2 hour workshop brings together researchers that share an interest in language and other cultural resources, such as vocabularies, narratives, taxonomies, frames, rhetorics and value markers, with a belief that these are central to collective formations, such as markets, organizational fields, industries and populations. The goal is to identify current frontiers, challenges and positive directions for high-impact empirical research in this growing, but heterogeneous area of research.
The format is highly interactive, with facilitated round table and plenum discussions, mixed with brief 'point-of-view' presentations by the panelists to stimulate discussions. Participants are encouraged to share and discuss their own "point of view" of current issues and future research directions.
Panelists/Facilitators: Mary Ann Glynn, Willie Ocasio, Joe Porac, Roy Suddaby, Matt Kraatz
Organizers: Mark Kennedy (
mark.kennedy@marshall.usc.edu), Klaus Weber (
