Dear colleagues,
We are thrilled to invite you to attend the "Ethnographic Tales and Tools: Risk, Resistance, Rewards in Fieldwork" Symposium at the upcoming AOM Conference in Chicago. This event is sponsored by the Organization & Management Theory (OMT), Organization Behavior (OB), and Research Methods (RM) divisions.
Details:
Day: Tuesday, August 13 2024
Time: 11:30 AM – 01:00 PM CT (GMT-5/UTC-5)
Venue: The Fairmont Hotel in the Gold Room
While management scholars seem to have embraced an "ethnographic turn" in the study of organizations (Rouleau, de Rond and Musca, 2014), three aspects of their ethnographic journeys often remain overlooked: the resistance researchers encounter in the field, the risks scholars may face, and the rewards that can emerge. Distinguished speakers will share success stories, transformative moments, and reflections on their fieldwork from both a professional and personal perspective. The discussion and open conversation with the audience hopes to advance reflexivity about the social worlds we study, and to promote a sense of community among fellow ethnographers and potential collaborators.
Distinguished Speakers: Michel Anteby (Boston University), Jillian Chown (Northwestern University), Alexandra Michel (Independent Researcher), Madeleine Rauch (Cambridge Business School)
Moderator: Farnaz Ghaedipour (Stanford University)
Organizers: Vanessa Conzon (Boston College), Audrey Holm (HEC Paris), Mara Cable (Boston College), Valerio Iannucci (Boston University)
