Innovating on Evaluations: Metrics, Format, and Framing
This inaugural PDW discusses topics on novel approaches in organizational evaluation processes. We seek to explore innovations in evaluation beyond traditional performance-based frameworks in professional and entrepreneurial settings. As interest grows in rethinking evaluation design, we consider the role of emerging technologies like AI and its interaction with human expertise in reshaping how value is created and captured. This includes reexamining how problems and solutions are framed and how aspects such as novelty, feasibility, business models, and impact are measured, presented, and evaluated. This PDW consists of a three-part series: first, we will have presenters discuss evaluation in entrepreneurship, such as problem formulation and impact assessment; second, presenters will enrich the conversation on how AI engages in organizational evaluation processes through knowledge co-production and strategic decision-making; last, participants will join roundtable sessions designed for in-depth interactions with panelists on the future research related to the evaluation topics. All together, we bring together distinguished scholars to provide insights for innovating on evaluations, addressing aspects such as metrics, formats, and framing strategies, and provide opportunities for emerging scholars to develop research on organization design, strategy, and entrepreneurship.
