IS NETWORK ADVANTAGE (STILL) NOT THE SAME FOR EVERYONE ?
ADVANCING RESEARCH ON GENDER, MINORITIES AND INTER-PERSONAL NETWORKS
Sponsoring divisions: OMT and CAR/ Session Number: 10898
Location and timing:
Copenhagen, Friday, Jul 25 2025 10:00AM - 12:00PM CEST at Bella Center in Hall B- B3-m5
Organizer: Andrew Shipilov
Do you do research at the intersection of social networks and individual differences? For example, are you interested in how gender or minority status influence unequal returns to social capital in organizations? Do you want to know whether men and women now are more similarly rewarded for the same networks and networking activities as compared to the previous decades? Are minority individuals less likely to build and benefit differently from their networks relative to those in the majority positions? And if these differences still remain in the second decade of the 21st century, what can organizations do to counter them and create a more inclusive workplace? If so, this PDW is for you.
You can join senior scholars who have extensively studied individual differences in networks and networking. They will present their work using recent datasets, discuss future directions of research on individual differences in networks and networking and can provide you with feedback on your research project in a roundtable format.

Application procedure:
Please send a max three-page proposal of your work to Andrew Shipilov (shipilov@insead.edu) by July 5, 2025. If you have a full paper, please still condense it to a three page version with key insights. In the proposal, please clearly indicate whether you have already collected data, have preliminary results and provide their preview. We will let you know by July 15, 2025, if we have selected your proposal for participation and a roundtable discussion with a senior scholar.
If you don't have a proposal, still please let us know that you would like to come by writing to shipilov@insead.edu so that we have an idea how many people to expect. You will be welcome to attend the first part, which includes paper presentations and panel discussion.
