As many of you may already know, the Ethnographic Cafe is a place for ethnographers to meet across disciplines, generations, and countries. We gather to talk about all things ethnographic, from history, design, and method to analysis, writing and dissemination. It is the brainchild of Loïc Wacquant, Ékédi Mpondo-Dika and Ashley Mears.
The Ethnographic Café is meeting again on May 12 at 12 pm (PT) with a special panel Emotions in Fieldwork, featuring Arlie Hochschild, Ana Villarreal, Timothy Black, and Erika Summers-Effler.

I think that what we're seeking is an experience of being alive - and once we have that we will discover that the question of meaning ceases to be important.
