Re-posting for anyone interested in better understanding gender based violence.

The Ethnographic Café returns on September 13, 2024, 11am-12:15pm PT (2-3:15pm ET)! Please note the unusual start and end time for this event.

Poulami Roychowdhury will present her book Capable Women, Incapable States: Negotiating Violence and Rights in India, an ethnography of political claims-making by domestic violence survivors and activists in India, in conversation with Ashley Mears. Please join us to discuss how to research bottom-up politics and how to craft a book that allies empirical granularity with theoretical ambition.

You can read excerpts of Roychowdhury's book here.
