    WBS Extreme Contexts Summit
September 14th at the Shard, London, 2026

The Extreme Context Summit brings together scholars who share a commitment to understanding how organisations and people operate in high-risk, emergency, and disruptive environments. Whether you are early in your career or a seasoned researcher, this is a space for intellectual exchange and informal engagement.
We're delighted to announce the exchange table facilitators for the 2026 WBS Extreme Contexts Summit, organised by the WBS Extreme Contexts Unit:
    Robin Burrow
    Tina Dacin
    Markus Hällgren
    Lee Jarvis
    Gloria Kutscher
    Mark de Rond
    April Wright

One of the distinctive features of the Summit is our scholarly exchange tables, which are small-group conversations organised around shared research interests. These sessions are designed to create intellectual exchange across career stages and disciplines, guided by a dedicated facilitator.

    Who should apply?
This event is aimed at scholars who have an interest in extreme contexts research, including early career researchers (e.g., PhD student, Postdoc, Assistant Professor) as well as mid- and late-career researchers (e.g., Associate and Full Professor). Extreme contexts research has been an international and interdisciplinary endeavour, and we welcome scholars from different academic disciplines, including management and organisation, other social sciences, and applied fields.

    What will the event include?
The day will feature welcome and informal introductions over coffee, scholarly exchange tables in the morning (small groups of scholars grouped by research interest, spanning career stages, each facilitated by a senior academic), lunch to continue conversations and build new connections, a keynote address by Linda Rouleau (HEC Montréal), continued engagement through scholarly exchange tables, a relaxed closing, and evening food and drinks with views over London to connect more casually and reflect on the day.

    How can I apply?

Spaces will be limited to 50 people (sold out in 2025). Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Successful applicants will be invited to register and pay the £150 registration fee. This covers the cost of catering and logistics.

Whom can I contact for more information?
You can contact the organisers: Adrian Marrison and Derin Kent (extremecontexts@wbs.ac.uk)
