We've heard from several of you that a little more time would help, and we want to make sure no promising nominee gets left behind. The new deadline to nominate a doctoral student for the 2026 OMT Doctoral Student Consortium is 15 May!

What is the OMT DSC? A full day designed for doctoral students nearing the final phase of their programs with guidance on navigating the job market, building an academic career, and making the most of the doctoral experience. Most importantly, it's a chance to connect with a supportive network of peers and scholars who share their research interests.

When & where? Friday, July 31, 2026, in person in Philadelphia with an optional welcome dinner the evening of Thursday, July 30.

    What's on the agenda?

    • Keynote and panels on career development, navigating the job market, and conversations with journal editors
    • Live roundtable discussions on core research and teaching themes
    • Networking opportunities with peers and faculty mentors

Who will your students meet? Over 25 faculty mentors have confirmed, which includes a wonderful mix of journal editors, amazing scholars, and mentors across career stages and geographies. Confirmed mentors include:

Beth Bechky (UC Davis), Heewon Chae (Arizona State), Benjamin Cole (Fordham), Gino Cattani (NYU Stern), Tina Dacin (Queen's), Matthew Grimes (Cambridge), Stine Grodal (Northeastern), Oliver Hahl (Carnegie Mellon), Olga Khessina (Illinois), Mark Kennedy (Imperial College London), Michael Lounsbury (Alberta), François Neville (McMaster), Giacomo Negro (Emory), Bilian Ni Sullivan (HKUST), William Ocasio (Illinois), Eunice Rhee (Seattle University), Floor Rink (Groningen), Amanda Sharkey (Notre Dame), Mary Tripsas (UC Santa Barbara), Eero Vaara (Oxford), Natalya Vinokurova (Lehigh), Tyler Wry (Wharton), Eric Zhao (Oxford), and Charlene Zietsma (Michigan).

Who can be nominated? Doctoral students interested in organizations and management who are nearing the dissertation stage. Priority is given to those planning to enter the academic job market in the coming year. Students must be OMT Division members (or join now), and each doctoral program may nominate one student. If multiple departments at your university are interested, please coordinate internally.

What you'll need to submit by 15 May 2026

    • The nominee's name, email, and university affiliation
    • Confirmation of OMT Division membership
    • Confirmation that the nominee will have completed coursework and comps (or an equivalent milestone like a proposal defense) by July 1, 2026
    • A brief letter from the faculty advisor (appraisal, progress, expected defense date, dissertation topic)
    • The nominee's CV
    • A 3–5-page summary of a research project on which the nominee would like feedback
